SNOWY DRV
A modification of the new DRV2 circuit:
Built to order: Ships in 4-6 weeks. Still time for WINTER, and sounds great for all seasons! The first 50 pedals sold, I will ship a laser etched “ornament” (pictured) in the next day or so (before the pedal is ready to ship). Remaining orders will get this included with their pedal. I like to think that pedals are for all year round!
This will use Warm White LED clipping, which sounds awesome. It’s even more clean than the red color, and still VERY LOUD, which is a good thing.
One cool thing that I’m going to do on this pedal is that I will use the LED clipping to light up a clear bottom plate, or between the bottom plate and enclosure. Either way, it’s gonna be pretty special, and something entirely new!
The really neat part about the visual of the clear LED from the circuit board, is that it will flash around the outer edges of the enclosure as you are playing the pedal, sort of flickering on each strum, more so as you play louder, as you use more gain, or hitting it with gain on the front end. An example of what I’m talking about is in the second picture with the plain black enclosure.
Featuring original art by Karen Schierhorn. This is actually a watercolor painting that she did, of the DRV in a Winter scene, and I thought it was funny and oddly meta to put a picture of a DRV on a DRV. It’s also really beautiful!
Printed on a white 1590BBS (tall) (this may change to a slightly different enclosure based on how the bottom plate works, but will be about the same size as a standard DRV regardless)
The picture is a mock up, but will look very accurate, based on my experience printing the MMHMM20 pedal.
Clear knobs
This is another slight MOD to the new DRV2 circuit. Using LED clipping, it makes the pedal much more clear, less compressed, and a lot LOUDER. The white LED clipping is nice sounding. It’s still a distortion and not a boost, but is less distorted and louder than the standard circuit. With the VOL at around 1 o’clock, it’s about where the regular circuit maxes out level wise. The midrange character is also slightly different. Not wildly different, but definitely noticeable. Great for angular type guitar playing, but also has a lot of clarity for complex chord voicing, even more so than the standard circuit, even more so than the red LED color.
During the creation of the DRV circuit, I had initially wanted to stay far away from any common or widely used “RAT MOD”. So if you’ve tried this on say, a RAT or a DS-1, you will get an idea of what I’m talking about here. This is a really cool sound! I’d say that this tweak causes the circuit to have lower gain throughout, in the higher and lower settings of the DRV knob, but also adds a certain kind of “anger”.
Built on a new surface mount pcb designed by John Snyder of Electronic Audio Experiements, but this one in particular has a different clipping section, using LED instead of standard diodes.
The low end has a lot more thump to it. The palm mutes are deeper, thicker. A nice fat-ness overall, you know. It isn’t the same sound as the MOD 1 or PROTOTYPE, it is actually the standard circuit otherwise, but there are some changes. The sweep of the CUT knob is slightly different, and is considerably less bright, which I think is kinda nice. You can actually pull the CUT knob back below halfway and it doesn’t take your head off with high frequency content.
These pedals (from this batch) will be hand assembled by Jack and I, in Nashville, TN.
Comes with a limited edition laser etched piece of plywood, made by Zack Slater of LCO Industries. Featuring the full artwork, this would look nice on a tree, or wherever you choose to display art year round. Each one will come with a red rope.
Runs on 9v standard (boss style) power. Battery clip or power supply is not included. An isolated power supply is recommended.

As you may be aware, international shipping has been incredibly slow. Due to the state of things in the world right now, I feel that it is most wise to change shipping carriers for all international orders. This will unfortunately cause the shipping to increase, even charging slightly less than actual cost. I am also doing my best to supply international retailers, so hit up your local shop! EU orders will be responsible for VAT taxes, and all countries are responsible for knowing the import tax laws within your country.
