These are very special. Handpainted one of a kind units by one of my favorite artists - Luke Ansell.
I commissioned these units, and just gave him full creative control, and I think they turned out incredible. Such a cool and unique thing.
On top of that, these units use an entirely new circuit variation of the DRV that uses a larger input cap (for more low end), and a hybrid clipping section using two different "secret" diodes. Just kidding, they aren't secret, but it does sound very good. It's huge, warm, and also the most aggressive circuit that I've ever done.
THIS ONE DOOMS, and also PUNKS. It's cool.
I wanted to make this pedal sounds Iike it looks, and I think I did a pretty good job of that. The modified DRV circuit sounds much more aggressive than anything I've ever done. Tons of low end thump. It actually gets cleaner than a standard DRV at the lowest gain settings, and gets more and more aggressive the more you turn up the gain. It is really very cool.
Ships NOW! These are all uniquely hand-painted in all over paint. Each unit has a sort of rough quality to it, which I think is really cool. There is a multiple application matte clear coat on top to make sure they will remain, so they can actually be used!
Each side is painted (all-over), apologies for the one side that I didn't get the focus right, but I think you can get the idea. Just know that it isn't blurry in person lol.
A little bit of the story of how I met Luke. He works at Cecil's Skate Shop in East Nashville, and has painted a huge wall mural there. If you're in town, you should stop by and check it out, and definitely check out their little mini-ramp and bank to curb. This is where I learned to drop in (recently, lol). He has designed multiple skate decks for their "shop decks", which are all very cool. I have the first variation personally. He has also done fully size murals around Nashville, around downtown and also at the venue The End.
This is a high quality and unique distortion pedal in sound and design. To me, this circuit really shines in the lower gain stages, and has a lot of clarity and character. One of my favorite sounds is zero gain, barely clipping clean, but I also love the middle range of the gain knob, all the way up to nearly fuzz! Sounds cool to open the CUT knob all the way!
I worked on this V2 circuit of DRV for more than a year now, and I finally got it right. Instead of trying to exactly copy the original circuit, I decided to make some changes. I've been using this version personally with my band, and I love it.
I've had some genius help with this circuit. Originally engineered and designed by Jon Ashley of Bondi Effect, it has been redesigned and engineered by John Snyder of Electronic Audio Experiments (who also did the LVL circuit). Both are friends and geniuses. I see this version as an improvement in every way. It's quieter (less noise), more efficient, and can also run at 9v or 18v.
Internal switch to select true-bypass (almost always worse, but sometimes better!)
These pedals (from this batch) will be hand assembled by Jack, AWOL, and I, in Nashville, TN.
Runs on 9v standard (boss style) power. Battery clip or power supply is not included. An isolated power supply is recommended.
